Practical Lingerie for All Seasons

Most of the time, lingerie ads only show photos of beautiful women wearing very sensual gowns or negligees. While this genre of intimate sales gets a lot of attention, you might not want to buy sexy lingerie. You might already have drawers and drawers stuffed full of sexy lingerie – what you need now is practical lingerie. Perhaps the office is transferring you to Cincinnati in the middle of November for six months – you need something that will keep the important bits warm. Of course, the opposite situation is also relevant. If the office decides to transfer you to San Diego in May for six months, you will need lingerie that keeps you cool, and doesn’t make you sweat.

When it comes to keeping warm or cool, natural fibers win over man-made, hands down. There is simply no competition. Silk or cotton underwear is simply going to do a much better job of keeping you at a comfortable temperature than polyester or nylon. Leather is also an option if you are aiming to keep warm, so don’t rule it out, even if you think that there is no way leather underwear counts as practical. Practical is whatever does the job you need it to do.

So, will you need to stay warm or cool? Let’s look at warm first. You can find long johns and vests in silk and cotton and these do a fantastic job of keeping out the cold. Of course, when it comes to panties, briefs are going to keep you warmer than a thong, so you might want to err on the side of more coverage than less. Cotton tends to be thicker than silk, so choose cotton briefs and then add long silk underwear over the top.

If you need to stay cool, you have even more options. If it is really, breathtakingly hot, then a silk thong will keep you cooler than cotton anything, so consider that option. Since silk fibers are finer than cotton ones, underwear made of silk is usually much lighter and thinner than cotton. If you simply don’t do thongs, then go for 100% silk or cotton underwear. Since these are natural fibers, they will allow your skin to breathe more easily, thus mitigating the risk of you overheating and sweating, which can be very uncomfortable. In extremes of temperature the most important thing is to make sure that you are comfortable.

Something else to consider in extremes of heat is that if you are required to wear stockings as part of a work uniform, go for thigh-highs. These can be held up with garters, as this will allow air to circulate around the areas that might otherwise overheat. This is the easiest way to keep yourself cool in the sweltering summer months. Although stockings and garters are considered to be very sexy, no one is going to know as long as you don’t tell them.

Practical lingerie doesn’t have to be plain white cotton. There are plenty of beautiful options that can keep you comfortable during all seasons. If you can only stay cool in a silk thong, that thong can be any color you like. A bright red one is not going to be any less practical than a white one.
